Listening to the voice that matters

Recently, the Gospel has been talking about the Good Shepherd and how the sheep hear his voice, as the shepherd calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. To quote, he had said:

“I am the good shepherd, and I know mine and mine know me… they will hear my voice, and there will be one flock, one shepherd.” – John 10:14-17

 
I was led to think again how we could recognize our good shepherd’s voice among the many voices that speak loudly in our ears. So I am reblogging this…

One week ago, we had our SFC fellowship. One of the activities we had is to walk a course while being blindfolded by following the directions given by your partner. Part of the challenge are the distractions throughout the activity like the voices that give other directions, the gnawing feeling that something unfavorable is in your feet, the course itself where you are required to crawl or jump, and the trust that you have to give to your partner who is giving the directions.

Living this life is like walking that course while being blindfolded. Life requires us to occasionally crawl or jump so we can move forward. The course is unknown and we do not know what lies ahead so we follow the voices that give us direction. But the important thing is to follow the voice that matters.
